The purpose of this journal is to introduce the characters, as well as explain the existence of such a seemingly bizarre club.



Cytomander and Viral are characters from Gainax's anime series Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

WARNING: The specific character descriptions may contain minor spoilers for the series!


Cytomander the Swift

In the first half of the Gurren Lagann series, Cytomander the Swift is one of the four divine generals that serve the Helix King. He is a beastman--a peacock type, to be exact--and he certainly resembles one. His physical features are mostly human, but they include a hooked nose and a peculiarly structured forehead that resembles a bird. His attire is extraordinarily flamboyant: he wears a green jumpsuit type thing (complete with frills and an enormous feathered collar) as well as peacock-like decorations that extend from the back of his uniform. He is 800+ years old (but he certainly doesn't look it).

Viral

Viral is one of the main characters in Gurren Lagann. He starts out as an antagonist, but in the second half of the series becomes a valuable ally to Simon and his crew. Like Cytomander, Viral is a beastman--specifically, a shark/cat (wtf) type. His features are also mostly human, aside from his shark-like teeth, cat-like eyes, and clawed hands(paws?) and feet. At the outset of the series, Viral is 23 years old. He is, however, immortal, so despite the time jumps in the series, he never ages a day.


Why Cytomander x Viral?

Two reasons.

1). Cytomander the Swift is an amazingly epic character, and he doesn't get nearly as much attention from fans as he rightfully deserves. We support him, and we want to see more support from the Gurren Lagann fanbase. We know you like him.
2). Cytomander x Viral just makes sense. Most would agree that Cytomander himself is pretty fabulous. A deliciously abusive relationship with Viral is to be expected.

CytoViral will happily accept submissions from all of its members, including admins. Please read these rules before submitting.

Content rules:
We only accept three general types of fanart deviations:

1. Deviations in which Viral is the only character in the piece.
2. Deviations in which Cytomander is the only character in the piece.
3. Deviations in which Cytomander and Viral are the central focus of the piece. These pieces can include other Gurren Lagann characters as long as Cytomander and Viral are the focus.
We love Adiane, but we won't accept pieces that include her in a "threesome" sort of situation. This is, after all, a yaoi club.
We also accept fanfictions as long as the main pairing is CytoViral!

Other rules:

Please make sure your picture follows deviantART's rules and regulations. Any pieces in violation of these rules will not be submitted to the gallery.
Your piece must be submitted to your own deviantART gallery, otherwise we can't link back to the original.
You must include permission for the club to use your piece in the artist's comments of the deviation. Something simple like "I give permission for *CytoViral to use this." is perfectly acceptable.
The club will not accept extremely rough sketches (to put it more crudely, we will not accept pictures that look like absolute crap). Please make sure your deviations look as though some sort of effort has been put into them. Chibi images and doodles are fine as long as they are cleaned up.
Members are allowed to submit as many pieces as they wish!
